Ink Cartridge Yields

Epson provides ink cartridge yields based on the ISO/IEC 24711 and 24712 standard for inkjet products, which excludes the first installed cartridges. Prior to creation of the new ISO standard, Epson and other printer manufacturers provided yields based on their own internal standards. The new ISO standard is widely recognized as the most reliable method to test inkjet printers under standard conditions or for the purpose of comparing achievable ink yields from various competitive printers.

Black - T088120 (Moderate Use): About 180 pages
Color - T088220, T088320, and T088420 (Moderate Use): About 165 pages per color, an average yield of cyan, magenta and yellow
Black - T069120 (Standard-capacity): About 245 pages
Color - T069220, T069320, and T069420 (Standard-capacity): About 335 pages per color, an average yield of cyan, magenta and yellow
Black - T068120 (High-capacity): About 385 pages

In accordance with the ISO standard for individual color cartridges, color yields are determined by taking an average yield, based on continuous printing, of all individual color cartridges. Individual cartridges conveniently allow the user to replace just the color of ink that has been expended. When using cartridges with combined color tanks, as do some competitive products, several colors of ink must be replaced when one color has been expended, so ISO ratings are based on the first color to be expended.

Yields may vary considerably based on images printed, print settings, paper type, frequency of use, humidity and temperature. The printers ship with full cartridges, and a variable amount of ink remains in the cartridges after the "replace cartridge" signal. Part of the ink from the first installed cartridges is used for priming the printer. Since no single yield standard can duplicate a customer's actual printer usage, Epson recommends that customers also consider print yield comparisons from reputable independent sources.

Epson recommends that customers choose an inkjet printer based on their expected printing needs, considering page yields as just one factor of evaluation. Other important factors include image quality, fade resistance of prints, reliability and printer features.
