Image quality is more than a number. The resolution of a scanner gives an idea of its enlargement power, but the image quality of a scanner also depends greatly on the sensor and lenses used within the scanner's optical system and how well they reproduce color, tonality and gradations with little to no mechanical noise. These qualities are measured by the specification called Optical Density.
Easy Photo Fix® Technology
Epson Easy Photo Fix technology offers powerful, one-touch color restoration, Advanced Digital Dust Correction, backlight correction and grain reduction. This leading-edge technology makes it easy to restore faded photos, slides and negatives. Dig out that shoebox full of old, faded photos and restore the color with one touch. Just lay your faded photo on the scanner bed and, with a simple mouse click, you can bring those faded photos back to life. You'll be amazed at how quick and easy it is.
ReadyScan™ LED Technology
This energy-efficient light source uses less power, while ensuring greater productivity. And, there's no warmup time required. Best of all, with no mercury included, this LED technology is better for the environment than traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamps.
Imaging Tools for Document Scanners
Most Epson document scanners and some photo scanners with the Epson Scan Office Mode have innovative built-in text and image enhancing technology for high quality document scans every time.
Optical Density Evaluation of Scanners
In a study performed by NSTL of a range of scanner models from four vendors, the four Epson models consistently yielded higher maximum optical density values. Higher optical density means better shadow detail and more mid-range tones.
