Exhibition Fiber Paper Set Platen to Wide?

I'm just trying the Exhibition Fiber paper & had read some places that the platen setting should be set to wide for this paper, is this true? Where would I change that if so? Also, for 13x19, should I use the front sheet feed or the rear sheet feed? Thanks!

If using Epson Exhibition Fiber paper, the platen gap setting is automatic and no further settings needed. Also you may use the rear feed with this media.

Answers

I regularly print on 3M and Inkpress 5mm transparencies and clear film for inkjet printers using my printer profile (SPR2880), glossy for paper type, and the image profile is set to Adobe RGB. These transparencies are used for gel transfers and the colors are correct.

While not designed for Epson transparancies, there is a wide variety of transparancies available. You would want to contact the media manufacturer to determine if compatible with the Epson 2880 printer and specifically pigment ink.

Prints tend to come out darker than desirable, even on properly exposed photos

This is true for pictures taken with good camera exposure settings, so I'm not sure the answer is just monitor screen calibration. Shots have to be brightened before printing on a fairly regular basis, regardless of the camera or paper used, often after the first print result is just a too dark. Are there adjustments that can be made to default printer settings?

There are many factors that go into getting a great print. Among them are your image color space profile (sRGB or Adobe RGB), the color management settings like the pinter profile (should be the appropriate icc for your photo paper), paper type (luster, glossy, matte), etc.

This can depend greatly on color management of the printer itself. We do have a basic color management section listed at the link below. Keep in mind, if the image needs to be brighter to 'appear' normal on your monitor also. This shows a camera issue as both monitor and printer show the same darkness.

I am trying to print on canvas with this printer and I am having an exceptionally difficult time getting the media loaded.

I have followed the instructions in the manual to no avail. Is there any easy trick to getting this printer print on canvas? I have owned previous Epson printers ( the photo stylus 2200) and the Epson Pro 3880.

There is no easy trick, but what you can try is using a carrier and loading it from the front. For the 3880, you can use a window mat as a carrier. If your canvas is 11x14, make sure the window opening is 11x14. You will secure the canvas onto the carrier by taping it on the back and front load feed it. Or you can spray mount it on Bristol or watercolor paper cut to the same size and feed it from the back or the front. Otherwise, just keep feeding it on its own from the front or the back until it takes. You have to be patient.

You did not mention the error or issue as to what you are having, however the main difference between the models you have listed would be the rear paper guide for loading. This guide is recommended as it will ensure the paper is straight. If it is skewed slightly, the margins will show off or at an angle especially with this larger size printer. The paper would then eject right away and give a misfeed error.

I have a 2880 that keeps telling me there is a communication error with the light cyan cartridge.

I replaced the cartridge with a new one and it worked again. After a couple of days of not using this printer I got the same message again. Again I replaced the cartridge and now it is not working. Is there something else I can do or will it have to go to the factory?

Unfortunately when the ink is not recognized there is normally an issue with that one ink cart or the printer itself. If it is mult ink carts, the printer would require service.
