Most iPad apps can only set a very limited number of options - mostly number of copies and page range. Can I get fuller functionality by setting defaults/option on the printer itself before sending the data from the iPad?

No, unfortunately the app will over-rule any setting done on the printer control panel. For example, if you set the printer control panel to plain paper and you are using a photo 4x6 app, the printer will print 4x6 photo and likely over-saturate the paper. When choosing an app to print from your mobile device, keep the features you want in mind. Also many apps have a feedback link that allows you to request popular functions.

From your description, there should be an error that explains what the issue is. Usually when multiple sheets are picked up, this is caused by not fanning the paper before inserting, settting the paper guides at the incorrect position or other physical issues. I actually loaded my 4 x 6 blank index cards in the rear paper tray vertically (with the 4" side facing the inside of the printer), and they printed fine.

and then repack the printer in the original Epson box for sgipping across the country for our remote sales person. We have worked with another printer that did not allow the printer once the ink cartridges were installed, to be re-packaged in the original container for shipping.

When i scan the picture, it shows a white background in letter size and won't let me just scan the picture only. If I select home and picture, it won't let me press scan. If I scan from the flatbed, it says connect to USB cable. What I need to do is scan a bunch of pictures to my windows 8 computer, then make a movie out of only the picture image.

For cropping, a computer would be needed and you would want to run Epson Scan and click preview. Once this is done, you may manually marqee the image.

Besides duplex printing/scanning and print costs, one of the main features that we are looking for is a printer w/ either a rear paper feed or top of tray feed for printing envelopes and checks - not photo paper. Its very cumbersome and time consuming to have to remove the paper tray to reconfigure it for these uses. We are considering maybe the WorkForce 4530.

This model has both rear and front tray. You may load the envelopes in rear and the plain paper in the front at the same time. To switch paper trays, you select rear tray in the computer only. No further action or paper removing is needed. We also have the WP-4540 model which has 2 front trays and the one rear tray. This can allow for 3 different sizes of paper to be loaded at the same time, or the option of loading both front trays with the same type of paper and the printer will auto pull from tray 2 when tray 1 runs out.

Hi,
We have a 6 month old WP4530 that we use for our business and we changed the ink cartrige a few times, always use genuine ones.
Few days ago it started to leave ink drops on paper when we print at about three quarters of the page from top to bottom. By printing a few pages it goes away but the drops are back the next time we print.
How can we go about resolving this issue?
The printing qualtity did not diminish, everything is fine except for the ink drops.

If using a computer, this is done in the application itself. For example when using MS WORD, you would change to a larger font. The printer will then print what is on your monitor. The same is true if using other programs such as spreadsheets, images, or email. You would want to check the program or email help section on how to print larger.

I have had this printer for only 1 day. It printed 1 document for me then it stated to check the usb cable and turn printer off and on. This shows a serious connnection issue with USB from the computer to the printer itself. Just to verify, if using USB it needs to be direct to the computer and not USB to router. If it is direct connect and plug/play does not see any printer connected, Epson tech support at 562-276-4382 would be needed for warranty services.
