The Artisan 50 is the current replacement, however it does not have a card reader. As we do not make a photo printer only with card reader, the Expression photo 850 all-in-one would be the closest model. This is listed at the link below. If you are printing 4x6 only, a PictureMate series model could be used with your camera and with an optional battery, power would not be needed.

The printer will work with Windows 8, however we have dropped support for Windows 98 completely. A much older model would be needed to work with this older OS.

This is an unusual issue in the the flap itself is opening or pulled away from the envelope. The envelope should be inserted in which the flap is at the side and not at top or bottom. Please see the video at the link below for the correct way to insert. If you are doing it the correct way and have this issue, the printer itself may have some type of issue and sevice required. Be sure the envelopes are within the specs of the printer itself.

When I connect my camera to the printer via usb, and select print from the camera's menu (no special settings#, a beautiful picture prints, rich colors just as it looks on the camera's screen. When I download the same picture to my PC and print from Windows 7 #using the automatic color management setting for Quality) I get light faded colors, much like the picture was overexposed. The print doesn't match the richness of colors on the computer screen. I notice when I choose the Window Color Management profile of Quality, the Printer Properties are Quality and Adobe RGB mode. The R2000 is connected as a wireless network printer for my PC. What is causing this overexposed, light colors when I print from my PC?

This would depend on the software that you use with your computer. If using a higher end software such as an Adobe product, you would want to set the driver to 'No Color Adjustment'. This will ensure the printer is only printing what the application is telling it to without any Epson color added.

As the printer uses an optical sensor to determine where the paper edge is, the printer would not be able to 'see' the transparent paper. You would need to use a 3rd party transparency that would work with Epson printers and more important Epson ultrachrome ink.

Unfortuanately without any type of error or symptom it is very difficult to isolate what is wrong. If paper can not go through the printer, it may be too thick, a wrong printer setting, or even something blocking the paper path.
