I want to use it for music videos and movie nights on a Da-Lite 88692K 16 x 9 screen playing DVDs and using either the composite input for DVD music videos or the HDMI input for DVD movie nights. I do not want black bars to overlap the screen where the light could hit the wall behind the screen.

The EX7210 is a native 16:10 ratio. Using a 16x9 screen or a 16x9 hdmi input should give you black bars as this is a different ratio as the projector. You would want to use a format and screen that is the same as the projector.

This can be done by running your cable box or tv tuner direclty to your projector instead of a television. A tuner would be required as there are no channel selector on the projector itself. Please see your input box as to what type of connection to ensure it matches this model.

This is either that source device sending this signal to the projector or the frequency/resolution is out of range on the projector. Please see the settings from your controller or whatever source this is to ensure compat with the Epson.

Yes, the projector only sees a video output from the computer and does not know if it is a Mac or PC. Check with whatever model Mac you have to ensure it has video out capabilities. It would be the same port you would connect an external monitor to.

Yes, there is one 2 watt mono speaker. If you are looking for a fuller sound, we recommend running the audio from your input device directly into your speakers or stereo system and not connect to the projector at all to avoid any distortion.

This is either due to environment, or the projector itself has a hardware problem. Make sure the projector has good ventilation. This is one of the largest causes for over-heating. If there is good ventilation and the room temperature at the projector's height is not excessive, there may be a hardware issue. Epson support at 562-276-4394 would be needed.
