We have not had complaints with Apple's new OSX 10.8.5 operating system and the issue is likely elsewhere or there would have been many calls to both Apple and Epson as this would be a major issue.
Just to verify, as a test, you have run Apple Preview with the color mode in Automatic choosing the correct paper type? This would be a test for a 'base' printing to see if the printer or settings issue and bypass any type of custom settings or profiles that were added. Another excellent program to use for testing is Safari. By printing a web page that has both text and images (www.apple.com
, www. epson.com etc..) this can show the same results. You may test with either plain paper or photo paper (using the correct settings each time). If these look good, then the next would be to print using your main application without the added profiles. Use the built in ones from the driver.
This would be the usual way in troubleshooting if the issue is coming from the driver, settings, application or even printer itself.
