Q:
The Artisan 837 is connected directly to the iMac with a USB cable. The iMac is running Mountain Lion with the latest updates, and I have downloaded the latest drivers for the Artisan 837 and installed them. It prints just fine.
When I try to initiate the scan from the Artisan, through the "Scan to PC" via USB connection I receive "Communication error. Make sure the computer is connected, then try again."
When I try Epson Scan, it does not recognize the Artisan at all, although it scans beautifully from an Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner that I also have hooked up.
When I attempt to scan from the System Preferences menu, under "Print and Scan", I see the Artisan and can click on it. I can choose "Scan" (instead of "Print"), but when I "Open Scanner", the window pops up and nothing further happens. The "Scan" button never lights up and clicking on the "Show Details" button, though lit, never opens another window.
