As the printer uses an optical sensor to determine where the paper edge is, the printer would not be able to 'see' the transparent paper. You would need to use a 3rd party transparency that would work with Epson printers and more important Epson ultrachrome ink.

Unfortuanately without any type of error or symptom it is very difficult to isolate what is wrong. If paper can not go through the printer, it may be too thick, a wrong printer setting, or even something blocking the paper path. Please contact Epson support at 562-276-4382 when in front of the printer and have the error message or a more detailed symptom for them to assist.

Why is the Gloss Optimizer level dropping? I only print to plain paper

Even though the Gloss Optimizer is turned off and greyed out on the settings, the level is still dropping. I have not done any photo printing. Why is this happening?

Same here -- I only print "matte" and the GO is greyed out but I have still had to replace the ink cartridge so it's definitely being used. I called technical support and they told me that a very small amount of GO is still dispensed even when it's not chosen. There is no way to 100% turn it off from being used.

Usually this occurs when the printer driver is set incorrectly. please verify in printer properties or Printer Settings plain paper is selected. If it is set to any glossy type paper, the gloss optimizer will be used even if printing plain paper. An Epson rep at 562-276-4382 will be happy to assist and verify settings are correct.

With the other 4 color printers, the yields are for 3.5% coverage. This is for a standard image and text prints. We have samples of these prints at the link below.
For the R2000 this is normally used as a photo printer only and would not apply as the ink coverage would be closer to 100%. Also a lighter or white image would use far less ink than a darker night image. The same as a sunny beach scene would use a large amount of cyan for both ocean and sky and very little of other colors. This along wiht the different media types using different amounts of inks makes it very difficult to give a page yield.

As this is a photo model, we can not give you a guide or cost as very light indoor images with white color, would use tremendously much less ink than a dark night image. The same would be true with an image such as a beach in which cyan would be used almost completely for both ocean and sky, while possibly other colors used very little.
There is also the issue with paper types, Matte paper in general will use more ink than a photo type as the matte will absorb more ink. Quality resolution is another factor in which a higher dpi can use more ink. Finally, the frequency of printing can affect the ink. If the printer is left sitting for a long period of time (weeks), a heavy cleaning may be needed before each print. This can also greatly affect the print yield vs a printer that is used continuously.

With all of these variables combined, it is nearly impossible to give X number of prints per each cartridge.
We do have ink yields for our 4 color or other all-in-one models using a standard 3.5% ink coverage. Please see the link at the bottom of this page that shows this information along with the standard forms we use for testing.

How can I have my prints at a higher dpi (5760 x 1440 optimized dpi )

I choose highest quality in the properties ... SuperPhoto. I turn off the High Speed printing and my print program shows 720.0 dpi. My old printer would show 1200.0 dpi and provided much brighter, saturated pictures.

The resolution will depend on the paper type. In the driver Photo RPM would need to be selected along with a premium glossy or similar paper. For example, if the driver is set to plain paper, it would lower the dpi, as plain paper is not capable of handling the extra ink at the higher resolution and become completely saturated.

This is done in the Epson driver. the location will vary per computer type and version. There will be a box for gloss optimizer. Keep in mind when choosing a Matte type paper, the feature is disabled as you would not want glossy prints from matte.

Paper and ICC profiles for R2000 and R3000?

I am confused. I looked for papers in the paper section that would work with both of these printers and the drop down menu lists neither...the nearest number model is 3880? How can I confirm my choice and find the ICC profiles for the R2000 and papers that will work? Also, is the widest 13" for the R2000? Will the canvas paper on a roll work?

I'm sorry for the confusion, the direct link for the R2000 profiles are listed below along with a basic color management overview guide.
We do not have a split screen that you can put 2 different model printers to see what paper is supported for both. You would need to choose the model printer and then see what papers this model select one at a time.

While both models are similar for printing sizes and media,
The R3000 has 4 different black ink cartridges and an Advanced Black and White Photo Mode in the driver. This allows you to select neutral, warm, cool, or sepia settings along with any fine tuning for creating your own custom setting.
The R2000 has seperate Red, and Orange color inks that will enhance skin tones, along with richer green and blue tones. There is also a gloss optimizer used with glossy paper to increase vibrance and create a glossy look and feel finish.
As with any inkjet, the printer will use ink to do an initial charge and will not get full yield. You should get full usage from the 2nd set and continuing as this is only a one time charge.
Yes, Epson definitely has Fine Art Papers listed at the link below. Click on the link and select the printer. While this is more for our Pro Graphics series larger printers. We do have most papers that will fit the R2000/3000 size.
