This would be nearly impossible to tell without some type of error message or more detailed decription of the problem. If the scanner locks up or shuts off during the scan, there is an obvious hardware issue with that scanner, If the computer shows some type of communication or other error during the scan, this would be used to help isolate the issue. It can be a conflict with another unused utility, update for an anti-virus or other issue.
Normally tech support would be needed at 562-276-4382 and a rep can assist when you are in front of the computer and give more details.

Yes, you may change the dpi setting on all of our scanner models. Depending on the size you are scanning, you may go as low as 50dpi.

We do not have an auto slide feeder at this time. We do have scanners that will scan multiple slides in one pass, however they would need to be loaded in the template before the scan.

No, the V500 is a USB only model and should be direct connect to one computer only. For multiple computers you would need a networkable model. The Artisan series is networkable that has USB, ethernet, and wireless capabilities.

You may be able to scan with the lid off and using the included white sheet only, however this is not the recommended method.
Also there are OSX 10.7 drivers available on the drivers and download section on the Epson website.

Scanning basic pictures and text would be a function of nearly all of our scanners and all-in-one models. Keep in mind the main factor in speed is the connection between the scanner and computer itself and not the scanner hardware. If using a wireless connection with encryption, this will be much slower than direct USB to your computer. This includes removing any USB hubs, ports or other devices. For these type of connections, the scanners should be similar in speeds. A rep a t 1-800-GO-EPSON can provide more details or give other options with scanning from our full line.
