Epson P-7000 Multimedia Storage Viewer®
Since I do mostly stock video and stock photo I needed a portable high capacity HD to backup work. My first attempt to use this was a failure. The viewer will not display the international industry standard video format. That is Photo JPEG in QT. It appears to show Motion JPEG which is interlaced. Every stock agency in the world uses, sells and accepts P JPEG which is the most used progressive QT stock use. This detracts from it's ability to take sample videos on trips without converting first. No time to do this conversion. Epson please update to include progressive video P JPEG viewing.
Another benefit would be hot exchangeable hard drives. Off the shelf replaceable.
The screen is great unless in sunlight. In sun the very glossy display is not useable.
So overall; a good product but real drawbacks for professional use unless it is strictly used as a backup hard drive while in the field.

I use my P-7000 in my digital workflow 100% of the time. This provides me with redundancy to help ensure against lost data.
During a photo-safari my P-7000 has replaced my laptop PC for image storage. This device was a hard sell to myself but now that I have experienced its benefits I can not imagine working without it. It goes everyplace I carry my camera.

Great device; drive too small
Been using my P-7000 for several years. It's excellent. Only problem is that the 160GB hard drive is woefully inadequate.

My first viewer ever. Appears to be excellent quality, very solid construction. User friendly, intuitive. Had read past reviews that stated the carrying case was 'bulky' ...... I think not. The case, like the viewer itself, is well made & offers good product protection. My flashcard files load quickly and the images are excellent. The size is perfect, not too big, not too small; just right! Even the owners manual is easy to read & understand; unusual for a photo related product. Don't let the price put you off.

Great Little Photo Storage Device
Easy to navigate, I like the tethering feature. I would recommend this P-7000 to my friends

The product itself is great. However the software that accompanies it doesn't always work well, even after you uninstall and reinstall it on a PC. But I'd recommend the P-7000 because it definitely is worth it.

The Viewer is amazing tool to work and I enjoy it a lot. Preview of your images and storage are fantastic. The only issue is that the unit has no firewire 800 / 400 and will be a plus if epson will consider add it in the next release since tethering will be more wide supported by using high end cameras. Also I will love to see this tethering feature working with high end digital backs like hasselblad or mamiya, aptus or leaf but I will be happy if the next release will support hasselblad digital backs tethering and raw file format.
Please add firewire in the next release!!! This will be a plus to compatibility and fast storage for great range of cameras and not only a USB support like it has now...
Epson thanks for hearing the photographers.

Great Travel Companion
Just returned from field testing my new Epson P-7000, and it performed flawlessly. With its compact size, it is a great alternative to lugging a laptop around with my photo gear. I do recommend purchasing a second battery for it when traveling. When doing extensive reviewing and editing of images, you do exhaust them quickly. I have only one suggestions for future improvement: a larger capacity model! Otherwise a great photo viewer; I'm very happy with mine.
