Outstanding Scanner
I was looking for a printer obviously, but wanted a high quality scanner as well. I very frequently have a need to scan a document for email purposes. It took about 30 minutes to install everything, including the WiFi (no USB cord required). Everything worked wonderfully and I was actually amazed at the quality of the full color PDF scans. Ink for this machine is expensive however. It uses black plus 5 color cartridges.

Artisan 730 - Quality, Economical Printer/Scanner
I shifted to Epson Products after having what I thought were good printers, but couldn't afford their ink anymore! This is my 2nd Epson Printer, but as is normal, that 1st printer eventually grew tired, so I bought the Artisan 730. I've had it now for several months, and have found it to have many features I would have expected only from a much higher-priced unit. I enjoy the quality of the copied product directly from the Flat-bed Scanner which is far superior to other brands. The compact construction of this Printer is a plus, since my residence is modest in size and elbowroom is at a premium. I am definitely pleased with the paper bin, which is easily accessible, drawing from the lower section of the printer without having to disturb any paperwork being scanned, etc., in the Flatbed. A SUPER plus is the fact that this printer will print both sides of documents without requiring removal and inverting of pages, by simply turning each page over INSIDE the unit, and printing the other side. There is one thing which I think could have been better designed, that being the finished-work shelf. It's a very delicate-seeming piece of sliding plastic in 3 sections which apparently could be broken off with a simple accidental contact. I have a curious 3-yo son here, and I'm concerned about his becoming better educated about the shelf. I DO like the use of more than the basic 4 colors, which extends ink life by blending only when necessary, thus using colors which are closer to the original document's, instead of diluting from a basic-four source. Overall quality - good! Satisfaction level - good! I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone seeking a new unit.

Wear out quickly
I purchased two of these and both broke shortly after the warranty ran out. Will cost more to fix them than they're worth.

Disappointing
I bought this for my wife a year ago and I've heard nothing but complaints. I use it occasionally from my office and I don't think it has ever worked the first time for me. So it's multiple trips across the house to get a print. When it does print the quality is good. Often there are paper jams and head cleaning to be done first. It has a cheap feel to it that I noticed when I first pulled it out of the box.
I've had lots of Epson printers over the years so just grabbing one that met her needs for a good price seemed like a no brainer. I will use my brain next time and do some research. No more assuming Epson means a quality product.

Dirty heads?
Just over a year of use and print quality is VERY inconsistent -many gray lines appear on a page of black print. Cleaned the heads numerous times but problem returns soon thereafter. Also changed partially full ink cartridge to test if that was the culprit, to no avail. Thankfully I bought an extended warranty from Office Max so I'm returning it for a full refund. Never again!

Artisan 730
I had been using an Epson R300 printer, and loved the quality of the photos I was able to get. It looked exactly like what I saw on the monitor. Now that I have the Artisan 730, the photos do not come out as well--darker and blurred, the scanner does not scan negatives or slides--as far as I can tell, thank heavens I still have the V500 scanner!!Copying and regular printing is great, but as a photo printer--which is why I purchased this one, I would not recommend it. You get better photos at target.

Epson continues to be at the top of my list with this all in one printer. I used Epson for years, then switched to another company thinking I would save some money on ink. I was wrong, the quality of pictures and plain printing on paper never came near the quality of my epson products. So I returned quickly as a Epson consumer! This printer does a fabulous job on pictures, scanning, and normal printing. Colors are the same as originals. The ink is water proof, which is great when printing presentations, pictures etc....the only down side is we cannot fax with this model.

Not a good printer - lines and smudges
I used to love Epson printers until this one. Printing on plain white paper leaves lines going through printouts. Photos would look good if it weren't for the black smudges that it leaves.
I bought this printer 4 months ago and Epson replaced the printer 3 times (soon to be 4 times, they're replacing it yet again) in that 4 months. Each of them printed exactly the same ... poorly. Lines and smudges = poor quality.

Excellent color reproduction for artwork
I'm still learning about this printer but if it's anything like other Epson printers, I'm sure I'll like the art prints which I plan to do with it. My previous Epson printer was a Stylus and after 5 years, it's starting to print blurry pictures even after several alignment attempts. It was still good while it lasted. I'll update this later if I can with addtional info on actual printed pictures. Setup took about an hour; not complicated but long.

Great for the price!
I bought this printer for 1/2 of suggested retail.
I decided to move away from using a premium photo printer and a regular printer. I wasn't using the photo machine much.
Copies well, scans well, prints well and photos are good quality when using high quality paper and high res image with advanced settings.
Setup was quick and easy. I have a cable running to my PC. I don't have any luck with any wireless devices so I didn't even try to set up the wireless feature.
This machine uses a lot of ink for premium photo printing and it does not use "real" photo printing ink.
The paper try must be removed from the machine for refilling. - kind of strange.
Overall, an excellent value.
