Finally found a great FAX
I have returned 2 other manufactures fax machines that did not work. This Epson has worked perfectly, installed without incident, Most of the setup seemed automatic. It somehow, when i print a picture, knew to print it on the paper for pictures. and print fax's on the 8.5 X 11 paper.
I would rate this a 10 in scale of 1 to 10.

This is the GREATEST printer for pictures! It even makes pics from my old 6 mega pixel camera look sharp! Combine this printer with the ultra paper & even every day photos look professional.

I have always had Epson printers and they have never disappointed me. This particular model is very easy to setup, took only 20 minutes. So far I've tried scanning, printing and faxing and everything worked flawlessly.

This thing is right there! There is no paper jam, no on and off stuff, it is just there and does what you want it to do. The quality of print is excelllent and we are looking forward to exploring its features.

The biggest problem we have with this printer is that it will quite often grab 4 or 5 sheets of paper at a time and it will print partially on all of them. It's quite frustrating when I am trying to print several pages. It wastes a lot of time having to reprint them. Also, I can't get it to print with cardstock which would be nice. I don't like the paper tray because the paper doesn't stay straight and my documents often print slightly crooked. Lastly, the magenta ink leaks occasionally on my documents. Im not too impressed by this printer.

Dissatisfied
This is the worst printer I can imagine. I just attempted to print a 7 page double sided document and have 5 different versions as it sometimes prints one page and other times grabs two sheets of copy paper so I get two pages of text on three pages. On many occasions I got an error message indicating the wrong size paper is being used; five times in the past half hour.
I've had it print a portion of a page and then stop.
I've purchased different papers, fanned the papers, removed and reinserted the papers, readjusted the devices that hold the paper in place, moved the paper forward and backward slightly and nothing works for long.
Occasionally the wifi connection is lost although the printer is in close proximity to the router.
Stop work, shut everything down, waste time, go to one of the help forums and nothing helps. Suddenly it works again. I even got a new router yet the problems persist.
I'm gonna junk it!!!

Not Epson's Best
Continual problems with the paper feed mechanism. Lots of paper jams. Also having to clean print nozzels frequently. Prints beautiful quality photos when it works.

Does the job
The Epson Artisan 837 does the job, and well. Printing is quick and photo quality is outstanding. I am an Epson printer fan, because Epson does the best photo printing!
However, I do not like the paper loading process, it's a paper tray located on the bottom of the printer, and is difficult and tedious to pull out. If you want to use a specialty paper like letter sized glossy or letter sized presentation paper, you will have to pull out the paper tray and load the paper separately. Complicating this is the problem it has of continually grabbing 3-7 sheets of paper instead of just one. I don't think I'd buy this type of printer again, preferring a paper feed that loads from the top (as my old Epson Printer did).

pros and cons of 837
I have had the 837 all-in-one now for several months and have the following to report: The print is very clear and it is fairly quick. However, two or three sheets come out at the same time and the machine states there is a paper jam and there is not. I suggest you fix this problem in future machines if you want to stay in business. Very annoying!!!

Artisan 837
The product itself is fantastic! It prints with high quality, it is quick for an at-home printer, it runs quietly and is somewhat esoteric to use. Regarding that last point, it is a GOOD thing this printer is pretty much a plug & play unit, because the provided Help and Manual are inadequate in many areas. One place in particular is the print-on-disc feature. I couldn't find instructions anywhere that told how to get to the CD-Tray button. Finally my husband helped me to figure out that you first have to show the Home screen. And it is a Press-On-Glass button located on the screen. :( So if you are familiar with Epson printers you have an advantage but if you are not, try out the posted YouTube videos, these homemade tutorials are better than the company provided documentation.
