Q:
When I try to add the printer to my Mac OS X 10.7x or 10.8x in Print & Scan I see the message "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.". What should I do?
A:
Run Apple's Software Update to install any updates which may resolve this issue.

Try the following:
  1. Click on and select Software Update.


  2. Install any available updates.


  3. Select the '+' button to add the product back to the list


If the message continues to appear you will need to preform a Reset Printing System.

Note: This reset will remove any installed printer queues and preferences for all installed printers, included non-Epson printers. It will not remove any printer drivers already installed.

Do the following:
  1. Click on and select Software Preference.


  2. Under Hardware select Print & Scan.


  3. In the printer list window, hold down the Crtl button on your keyboard and click anywhere in the window, then select Reset printing system.


  4. Note: If you see a window that says Are you sure you want to reset the printing system, click OK.

  5. If necessary, enter your system password.


  6. Select the '+' to add printer back to the printer list.


  7. Try printing.
