Can I use MS-Backup to backup my hard drive onto multiple zip disks?
You cannot span zip disks to backup large hard drives (larger than 100 MB) using MS-Backup....after the first disk is full an error message appears.

A company called NovaStor markets a product called Nova Disk that should perform large file backups that will span disks.

You can also use the MS-DOS ATTRIB and XCOPY commands to span zip disks --this will also work with Windows 95 long file names. At the end of a disk, a message appears stating that there is not enough disk space. Simply insert the next disk and continue. No special program or compression is running so you can perform this on any DOS PC. Here are the two commands:

At the C:\ prompt (FROM THE ROOT DIRECTORY) , type: ATTRIB -A *.* /S

Then, assuming the Zip disk is drive E, type: XCOPY C:\*.* E:\ /S/M/E/V

You can check DOS Help or an MS-DOS manual on the two commands for more info.

Iomega's newest Ziptools includes a disk spanning backup utility. Upgrades to drivers and programs are available (but not supported by the Epson Connection) from Iomega on-line services.
