Why isn't my printer listed in the Chooser?
Try the following:
Sets: System only (whatever version you have)
Desktop Printer Extension: OFF (Anything that says Desktop Print . . . ) OFF
Desktop Printer Spooler: OFF
Desktop PrintMonitor: OFF
Epson Monitor2: ON
Epson Stylus (your printer model): ON
File Sharing Extension: OFF
QuickDraw GX: OFF (anything that says GX) OFF
Printer Share: OFF
Stylewriter 1200: ON
From the System Folder from Preferences trash any of these that appear: Appletalk Prefs, Finder Prefs and PrinterShare Prefs.
In Chooser set Appletalk to inactive, set the Imagewriter and Stylewriter to the printer port, then select your Epson Stylus printer model and set it to the printer port. Restart the Mac and after restart - try to print a window without entering the Chooser, it should print fine.
Make sure you change only the preferred size for the memory setting.
Does your connection on-line require that appletalk be active? If you have the printer connected to the printer port, there's the problem. When connected to the printer port appletalk must be inactive in order for the printer to work.
You can try using Apple's Remote Access extension which give you "Remote Only" as a choice under Appletalk/Network Control panel. This will allow appletalk to remain active and use the printer port with out driver.
