How can I setup this printer on a peer-to-peer Windows network? |

DISCLAIMERThese instructions only apply to Peer-to-Peer Networks consisting of Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0 and are intended as a general guide to share your Epson Stylus printer across your network. Epson does not support network installations and we suggest you contact your network administrator or software vendor for more complete installation and configuration instructions of your actual network. Please, read the entire document prior to making any changes to your network setup. Also, these instructions are based on the assumption that your network is setup and configured properly. ENSURE THAT THERE IS A TRUE PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK BY: 1.Double-click the 'Network Neighborhood' icon. 2.Double click on the 'Entire Network'. 3.This should list all the computers on the network. 4.If you get the 'Unable to browse network' error, please check your network setup. Otherwise, go to next step. IF THE HOST WORKSTATION IS RUNNING WINDOWS 98 / 95: If your printer is either an Epson Stylus Color 850, Color 740, Color 640, Color 440, Stylus Photo 700 or Stylus Photo EX, skip steps 2-8. 1.Install the driver through the SETUP.EXE file on the bundled floppies or CD-ROM. If you wish to obtain the latest version of the driver, you can check our web site at http://www.epson.com/support/ftp.shtml and download the appropriate driver file. To install a downloaded file, simply double-click on it to start the installation process. 2.On the local drive of this terminal, create a directory by the name of EPSPOOL, so you have C:\EPSPOOL. 3.Click on 'Start' 'Programs' 'Epson' 'Spool Manager'. 4.In the Epson Spool Manager, click on 'Options' 'Default Spool Directory' and change the directory to C:\EPSPOOL. Click on 'Okay'. 5.In the Epson Spool Manager, click on 'Queue' 'Setup'. 6.Select 'Spool to local printer'. 7.Ensure that the 'Spool Directory' is set to C:\EPSPOOL. 8.Close the 'Epson Spool MOM. If you wish to obtain the latest version of the driver, you can check our web site at http://www.epson.com/support/ftp.shtml and download the appropriate driver file. To install a downloaded file, simply double-click on it to start the installation process. 2.Click on 'Start' 'Settings' 'Printers'. 3.Right-click on the icon of the printer and left-click on 'Properties'. 4.Click on the 'Ports' tab. 5.Click on 'Add Port'. 6.Select 'Local Port' and click on 'New Port'. 7.In the 'Enter a Port Name:' field, type the UNC path that leads to the printer and click on 'Okay'. For example, this path could read \\WINDOWS98\EPSON800. The UNC path of your network will depend on the share name of the printer and the workstation that it is connected to. 8.Click on 'Okay' to close the 'Properties' window. 9.Close the 'Printers' window. 10.Print a test page. |
