I cannot download an IP-address to any unit with 'arp -s' and 'ping' from a Windows 95 client. How can I work around this?
When the arp-table of a Windows 95 client is empty (contains no entries), On some versions of Windows 95 it is not possible to enter static entries with 'arp -s'. The solution is either to use AXIS NetPilot, if applicable, to give the Axis unit an IP-address, or to first enter a dynamic entry in the arp-table. A dynamic entry can be entered by pinging a unit on the same sub-net as the client. Then after that, 'arp -s' and 'ping' can be used as normal.
