What are the differences between the Perfection 636 and Perfection 636U? |

The Perfection-636U USB version is compatible with Windows-98, iMac, and the new PowerMac G3. It is not compatible any other computer operating system. The main difference with the hardware is in the interface. The Perfection 636 comes with a Plug and Play PCI SCSI card and SCSI cable. The Perfection 636U only connects through the USB port and comes with the USB cable. There is no SCSI or parallel interface option. All other components except for the interface are the same. The Automatic Document Feeder and Transparency Unit for the Perfection-636 and Perfection-636U are the same and will work on both scanners. The Transparency unit is removable and can be taken off when not needed. The only other difference is the software bundle.
