What are the different types of errors that can occur?
There are four different error light conditions: Command, Interface, Fatal, and Option. The Interface error was described in the preceding question. A Command error (Ready and Error lights on solid) means that the scanner has received an incorrect command from the scanning software. Try to rescan the document. A Fatal error (Ready and Error flashing) can be caused by various conditions. A Fatal error can occur if the transportation lock lever is in the LOCK position, the fluorescent lamp needs to be replaced, the scanner is broken, or there is a problem, such as the cover is not closed with the optional transparency unit or automatic document feeder attached. Ensure that you switch the transportation lock lever to UNLOCK and check options installed, then press Reset or turn the printer off and back on again. An Option error occurs when there is a problem with an installed option, such as a paper jam.
