Q:
What should I do if I'm having paper feed problems such as the paper jamming, feeding incorrectly, or not loading?
A:
See the solutions below for the type of paper you are loading.

Sheet paper

  • Use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that meets the product's specifications. (Make sure the paper is not curled, creased, old, or too thin.)

  • If paper is jammed, see Paper Jams to check for jammed paper and any other obstructions.

  • If paper doesn't feed correctly or load in the sheet feeder, try the following:

    • Remove the paper from the product and reload it against the right side with the printable side face up.

    • You can load these types of paper in the sheet feeder. Load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

    • Make sure the manual feed tray is not extended.

    • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

    • If dust has built up on the paper rollers, clean the paper rollers.

    • Make sure your paper is loaded correctly. See Load Paper in the Sheet Feeder.

  • If paper doesn't feed correctly or load in the manual feed tray, try the following:

    • Remove the paper from the product and reload it against the right side with the printable side face up.

    • You can load these types of fine art paper in the manual feed tray. Use the manual feed tray to also load thick media (0.7 to 1.3 mm thick) such as poster board. Load only one sheet at a time.

    • If you're printing on fine art paper, make sure the the rear support is open and extended fully. If you're printing on thick media such as poster board, make sure the rear support is closed and there is enough space behind the printer for the media to feed through.

    • Make sure the manual feed tray is extended. Once the media is fed into the printer and you see a message on the screen, close the manual feed tray.

    • Make sure your paper is loaded correctly. See Load Fine Art Paper or Load Thick Media.

  • If the paper loaded from the sheet feeder doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the  button to eject the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • If your paper is wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

Roll paper

  • If paper is jammed, see Paper Jams to check for jammed paper and any other obstructions.

  • If roll paper doesn't feed, cut the end of it straight across and uncurl the end by rolling it backwards, if necessary.

  • Make sure your paper is loaded correctly. See Load Roll Paper.
