Q:
After upgrading or deleting EPSON Scan in Mac OS X 10.4.x, I am unable to open EPSON Creativity Suite, EPSON Copy Utility, ArcSoft PhotoImpression, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop CS2. What should I do?
A:
This problem can occur if you uninstall your EPSON Scan software with software specific to a different scanner model (e.g., using the Perfection 4490 software to uninstall the Perfection 3490), or if you delete EPSON Scan by dragging it to the Trash. Try the following to correct the problem:
  • Uninstall EPSON Scan using the scanner software CD-ROM that came with your scanner. If you don’t have the CD, download the driver for your scanner from Epson’s website and use it to uninstall your scanner.


  • If you have more than one Epson scanner model on your computer, use the uninstall software specifically designed for each scanner model to uninstall its software.


  • If EPSON Scan was updated from a PowerPC version to a Universal version, uninstall EPSON Scan using the PowerPC uninstaller and then install the EPSON Scan Universal version.


If the above procedures do not resolve the problem, make sure EPSON Scan and the EPSON***.ds file are no longer on your hard drive (*** represents the scanner model you are uninstalling). Follow the instructions below to remove them:

  • EPSON Scan


    1. Open the Hard Drive.


    2. Select Applications.


    3. Drag EPSON Scan to the Trash.


  • EPSON***.ds file


    1. Open the Hard Drive.


    2. Select Library > Image Capture > TWAIN Data Sources.


    3. Drag the EPSON***.ds file to the Trash.
