Q:
The scanner is not recognizing characters well when using Epson Scan. What should I do?
A:
Try the following:
  • Make sure the document lies perfectly straight in the input tray or on the document table.


  • Select the Text Enhancement check box.


  • Adjust the Threshold setting.


    • Office Mode: Select Black & White as the Image Type setting and then select the Image Adjustment tab. Then try adjusting the Threshold setting.

    • Home Mode: Select Black & White as the Image Type setting. Then try adjusting the Threshold setting.

      • Note: Home Mode can scan from the document glass only.

    • Professional Mode: Select Black & White as the Image Type setting. Then try adjusting the Threshold setting.


  • For small text, try selecting 400 as the Resolution setting.


  • Check your OCR software manual to see if there are any settings you can adjust in your OCR software.
