Q:
My printer prints garbled characters from DOS and Windows. What should I do?
A:
Try the following:

  • Make sure the cable does not have a loose connection. To check the connection, turn the printer and computer off, reconnect the cable on the printer and computer, then turn the printer and computer back on.


  • Use a fully shielded cable, preferably 6 feet or less in length.


  • Replace the cable.


  • Connect the cable and printer to another computer. If it works fine, have the computer port checked by an authorized dealer.


  • Connect the printer to another computer. If the printer prints garbage from the other computer, it needs to be serviced.
