Start Here

If you’re planning on connecting your EPSON® printer to your WebTV™ console, refer to the WebTV Users Start Here booklet that came with your printer. If your printer did not come with this booklet, then use this online version to set up your printer.

Follow these steps to set up your EPSON Stylus® COLOR 440 (illustrated here) or 660, or EPSON Stylus Photo 750 printer.

Don’t throw away the other material that came with your printer! Although the CD-ROM, Printer Basics book, and Start Here card are intended for users with a PC or Macintosh computer, you should still fill out your Registration Card and save your warranty information.

Note: When you use your printer with a WebTV console -- rather than with a Windows or Macintosh computer -- the printer will not have all the functionality described in the printer's standard documentation. For example: print resolution will not exceed 360 dpi; print speed may be reduced; only plain and glossy papers may be printed on; some special driver features will not be available, (for example, watermarks); bundled software cannot be used. These limitations will not exist when you use your printer with a Windows or Macintosh computer.

Set Up the Printer

1. Unpack the Printer

Remove all the tape and packing material, as described on the unpacking sheet in the printer box. Make sure you’ve got a parallel cable (not included) to connect the printer to your WebTV console, and the items shown here:

Place the printer near your console and an available grounded power outlet, but avoid areas:

with high temperature or humidity
in direct sunlight or dusty conditions
near sources of heat or electromagnetic interference, such as loudspeakers or cordless telephone base units

Be sure to follow all the safety instructions which you will find throughout your online WebTV Printer Help guide.

2. Attach the Paper Support

Insert the paper support in the slots at the back of the printer’s sheet feeder.
